He Wants Toys

A few days ago, someone donated a bunch of used, little kids’ toys — including a floor puzzle — to a local homeless church of childless adults.

It doesn’t make any logical sense.

Except that, in this case, they donated them specifically for my ministry partner, Melissa, to take, for her two little grandsons, Mr. Peanut and Ahmari.

This morning, I woke up to the sound of Melissa’s unique cellphone ring.

“Hello!”

I heard Melissa on the other end of the call, “Hello! Good morning!”

Instantly, I heard 2-1/2-year-old Mr. Peanut’s happy, enthusiastic voice, “Hello! Good morning! Hey, quick question: Can we go get a puzzle?”

“Yes, we can, Mr. Peanut!”

“Okay, see you! We waiting!”

Twenty minutes later, we were all on our way to the homeless church, to pick up Mr. Peanut’s toys.
