Lately, Mr. Peanut — barely 3 years old — surprises me nearly every day.
A few days ago, as his Uncle Josh carried him out to my car, the grinning little guy called out to me, “Hi, HUN-ee!”
Then, yesterday, I went into his house, to use the bathroom. He greeted me at the door with a big smile, and outstretched arms. I picked him up, and he immediately hugged me. I said, “Hi, Honey!” He happily repeated it back to me. After a few seconds, I put him back down and, as I made my way to the bathroom, he loudly called out something to me that I had NEVER heard him say before:
I was the very first person to ever call him, “Mr. Peanut,” at the hospital, the first time I held him, just a few minutes after he was born.
Nowadays, everyone but me calls him, “Jo-Jo.” I’m probably the only one who ever calls him, “Mr. Peanut” any more, but I do that every day. It looks like maybe he thinks that “Peanut” is something that he and I BOTH call each other.
If that turns out to be true, that would be fine with me! 😉
