Here’s something that I don’t say very often: One night, I got a new insight while watching TV.
During a commercial for an NBC TV show, Crusoe, it suddenly occurred to me that the symbolism of Crusoe’s story applies to many of us survivors.
As you may recall, in Daniel Defoe’s 1719 novel, Robinson Crusoe survives a shipwreck and becomes a castaway on a remote tropical island where he has to build a whole new life for himself.
In the same way, many of us have survived devastating “shipwrecks” in our personal lives that have left us castaways, alone in strange places without the comforts of family or friends.
And, like Crusoe, we’ve started all over with nothing and built whole new lives for ourselves.
If you’re a survivor, please write and tell me your story.
And, with your permission, I will be happy to add it to my Survivors page, where it will bless and empower many others.
