It’s been almost 10 months since the night that I found and rescued Bud.
He’s a real sweetheart — and he brings a tremendous amount of joy, happiness and love to our lives.
He loves his parents, his brothers (Petey and Max), his friends (the dogs who live next door, who he goes for a walk with almost every night); almost everyone he meets; and his veterinarian and all of the vet techs at his vet’s office.
At night, he curls up in his little doggy bed on the floor, right next to my side of the bed. He’d probably be more comfortable sleeping out on the love seat in the living room, but he wants to be in the bedroom with the rest of his family.
Today, I decided to try to buy a bigger, nicer bed for Bud — not another one of those cheap beds that’s either filled with material that goes flat the first time he lays on it, or with tiny styrofoam beads that roll out from under him, leaving him laying right on the floor itself.
At Sam’s Club, I found a Serta Perfect Sleeper Pillow Top Pet Bed, for only $29.98.
As soon as I saw it, I knew that it was exactly what I had been looking for — and I knew that Bud would love it.
When I got home, Bud started sniffing it as soon as he saw it. I carried it past him into the living room and set it down on the floor.
He immediately crawled onto it, lay down, and rolled over onto his back.
It supported him, suspended about 3 or 4 inches off the floor.
A few minutes later, I carried it into the bedroom and placed it in “Bud’s bedroom,” next to my side of the bed.
Bud ran over, crawled into bed, turned a couple of circles, and lay down.
Yup, that’s his new bed all right!
