Google’s researchers have developed an artificial intelligence system.
That neural network already knows a lot of things.
But it needs to learn more.
And you can help teach it — by doodling.
It didn’t recognize my doodle of a paperclip, despite the fact that it looked exactly like a paperclip — which is really ironic, since a paperclip is about the only thing that I can draw realistically.
Later, Google’s AI showed me what some other people’s doodles of paperclips had looked like.
No wonder it hadn’t recognize mine! Nearly everyone else’s doodle was a sort of crooked, lopsided spiral that didn’t look anything like a paperclip.
If you’d like to help teach Google’s AI what a paperclip — and other things — look like, you can do it here.
