Work That Really Counts 2
April 12th, 2010 by ComputerBob
Regular readers of this Journal know that, last month, I earned a perfect score on the U.S. Census test for potential temporary part-time employees.
A few weeks later, a Census administrator called to interview me over the phone. At the end of that interview, they hired me to work as a full-time clerk for the duration of this year’s Census, and scheduled me to start working today.
Since then, they’ve called me 6 more times, to offer me various work days and hours, as well as to confirm my preferences.
But despite all of the negotiations, today is still my first day of work. I’ve been told that it will be a full-day of training.
I’m scheduled to work full-time in the Census office for up to 16 weeks, doing a wide variety of tasks.
Stay tuned. I’ll let you know how it goes.
