Windows XP Service Pack 3 Trouble
December 4th, 2008 by ComputerBob
It’s old news that even though Windows Vista has been on the market for almost 2 years, its many problems have caused many corporations and individuals to keep using Windows XP instead of “upgrading” to Vista. In fact, that situation forced Microsoft to allow PC manufacturers to keep selling brand new PCs with XP installed on them instead of Vista.
It’s also old news that although they usually solve one or more problems or security issues, many Windows upgrades and service packs end up introducing new problems of their own. As a result, Windows users have the unenviable job of trying to keep their computers up-to-date while at the same time monitoring the news to figure out whether each update du jour is safe to install or not.
Knowing all of that, it should come as no surprise to anyone that “Installing SP3 on Windows XP eliminates the operating system’s ability to install important security patches for Microsoft’s .NET technology and possibly other software.”
