Win7 Can Delete Restore Points
May 2nd, 2010 by ComputerBob
I keep a backup of my main PC’s completely configured / and /home partitions, to make it easy to restore one or both after a catastrophic event or user error.
I haven’t experienced a catastrophic event in Linux yet, but a few different times in my early Linux days, I made errors that messed my system up so completely that I had to restore either / or /home from their backups.
Similarly, for the past several years, Windows has given users the option to save “System Restore Points” that allow them to roll back their computers to previous “good” states after they experience a catastrophic event or user error.
It’s a really good idea.
It’s just too bad that Windows 7 can delete all of those System Restore Points on reboot.
