Web Design Nightmares

January 17th, 2010 by ComputerBob

Regular readers of this Journal may remember my June-July, 2008 series of Journal entries, in which I described — in sometimes agonizing detail — the many trials and tribulations that I went through when I converted this Journal from being straight XHTML code to using the WordPress publishing platform, with my own theme that matches the rest of this site.

Anyone who’s ever done their own Web design knows that my experience was pretty typical: No matter how well you plan your design and the transition to it, there’s a good chance that some unexpected glitches will expand the whole project (sometimes well) beyond its original scope and budget.

But experienced designers know that it can get much, much worse if you’re designing a site for someone else.
