User-Friendly Antivirus Programs

July 17th, 2010 by ComputerBob

Regular readers of this Journal know that I”ve been using Linux full-time instead of Windows since July of 2006.

My three Linux-only PCs have never had their security compromised in any way — despite the fact that I’ve never run any type of antivirus software on them.

In fact, I’ve never spent any time worrying about and maintaining my Linux PCs’ security.

In sharp contrast, Windows users have to constantly find and download and purchase and install and configure and maintain all kinds of third-party software, just to try to patch an never-ending succession of vulnerabilities like these, that have always plagued their systems’ swiss-cheese-like security.

Here’s a funny comic that shows what it’s like to use a free trial of a Windows antivirus package.
