Tracking Down Wi-Fi Interference

On my home network, I currently only use wired ethernet connections to my three PCs and laser printer.
Of course, my DSL modem/router has both wired and wireless capability, but so far, I haven’t had any real need that would justifiy the expense and security issues involved with enabling its wireless functions.
If you use Wi-Fi access in your home, you may run into times when it is inexplicably slow, as though something is interfering with it.
What would you do to troubleshoot that problem?
Slashdot’s users have a lot of good suggestions for one reader who is experiencing it.
