The Ultimate Mobile Home

When I was researching the subject before moving to the Sunshine State, I was surprised to learn that, when a hurricane strikes, the vast majority of injuries, deaths and property damage in coastal areas like ours aren’t caused by high winds, but by the resulting storm-surge flooding.
Our dream home is “in the highlands” of the Gulf Coast, a couple of feet above the highest hurricane-surge flood-plain zone. That means that we won’t be required to evacuate, even for a Category 5 hurricane.
But thousands of people here aren’t as fortunate. They have to walk away from their homes every time there’s a possibility that a hurricane might strike this area. And then return several days later to see if their homes are still intact.
But thanks to a new invention, maybe someday their homes will be able to walk away, too.
Can you even imagine the size of that traffic jam?
