The Truth About Slapstick Comedy
June 25th, 2010 by ComputerBob
The whole basis of slapstick comedy is that many people find humor in the travails of others.
In other words, it’s funny — as long as it’s happening to someone else.
Famous comic actor/writer/director/producer Mel Brooks made a very lucrative career out of exploiting that simple truth. He is also known for saying, “Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you walk into an open sewer and die.”
But every once in awhile, a situation that starts out making people laugh can suddenly change and make them feel very guilty.
That’s the premise of a very creative and thought-provoking animation called Funny Accidents.
