Mini.

The Savior

April 4th, 2010 by ComputerBob

For a little more than 5 years, back in the late 1970s through the early 1980s, my wife and I sang together for a living — 427 performances in 26 states. It was just the two of us, and I played the 12-string guitar and wrote all of our songs.

This morning, I woke up with one of my own songs playing in my head:

The Savior

He came one day to Bethany.
He didn’t have a piece or bread or cup of wine.
I gave him mine.
And everything was fine.

The blind, they came to see Him.
The deaf, they came to hear His voice and share His time.
His precious time.
And everything was fine.

But some would soon betray His love
and some would fall away,
and some would crucify my Lord.
He knew but didn’t say.

He gathered His apostles, then
He blessed their bread and broke it, then He blessed their wine,
saying “This is mine.
I will soon be gone.
Please remember me.
When everything is fine.”

So one of them betrayed his love
and many ran away,
and then they crucified my Lord.
He loved them just the same.

The cross just couldn’t beat Him.
His tomb just couldn’t hold Him for He rose divine.
Now He is mine.
And everything is fine.
