The Net Generation Isn’t
August 9th, 2010 by ComputerBob
For years, we were told that, in the future, children who grew up with ubiquitous computers and other digital devices would become “The Net Generation” — a whole new group of technologically savvy people who would be constantly digitally “connected” to each other and to the world.
In anticipation of that likelihood, governments and educators spent untold amounts of money upgrading their educational technologies and replacing traditional teaching methods with Internet and technology based ones.
That sounds like a great idea, doesn’t it?
Of course it does — which is why most of us have always believed it unquestioningly.
Unfortunately, like many things that most of us believe unquestioningly, the whole idea of “The Net Generation” is turning out to not be true.
But you can still safely believe that Slashdot’s readers have a lot to say about that.
