When analyzing a complex situation, many people see only what they want to see, and ignore any evidence that contradicts their presuppositions.

For example, many Linux users will be very happy to believe that Linux Is Going To Be On More Desktops Than Windows, despite the fact that Windows currently controls about 88% of the PC market, while Linux hasn’t yet broken the 1% level.

On the other hand, many Windows users will be happy to believe that Windows 7 Will Crush Linux, despite some recent lukewarm reviews of Windows 7 and despite the fact that a growing base of PC users are warming up to free and open-source operating systems and applications.
