The End Of Free News?
July 12th, 2010 by ComputerBob
We’re all used to getting our news from the Internet.
In fact, during the past decade, there’s been a huge shift toward trusting the Internet as a main news source, instead of watching TV news programs and reading newspapers.
The result has been the death of a number of newspapers, and huge drop in the number of viewers who watch network television news broadcasts.
We want our news now — all day and all night.
Everywhere we go.
And we want it for free.
Up until now, our technologies have made all of that possible.
But, ironically, an article in The Atlantic claims that our use of newer technologies will end our free ride.
Of course, Slashdot’s readers have a lot to say about that.
