The Case Of The Disappearing Teaspoons

When my wife and I got married, her parents gave us a set of knives, forks and spoons as a wedding gift. For some reason unknown, over the years, we’ve had to order additional forks to replace ones that disappeared from the set.
Yet, despite repeated replenishment, we once again have fewer forks than any other form of cutlery.
As George Carlin used to say, “It’s a mystery.”
When an Australian research institute experienced a similar phenomenon with teaspoons, they decided to do a “longitudinal cohort study of the displacement of teaspoons.”
Leave it to scientists to look for answers to life’s important questions.
