Thank You For Loving Our Pets

Ever since my wife and I moved to the Sunshine State over 4 1/2 years ago, we’ve taken Mini, Pookie, Petey and Max to a wonderful local veterinarian. I had to get used to the fact that his very reserved “bedside manner” belies the fact that he really, really loves the animals for which he cares. He and his staff of vet technicians have always provided our little ones with extremely loving, gentle care — in fact, Max is always very happy to go to the vet’s office, and excitedly wags his tail and gives them kisses every time, even after they give him shots.
During and after our recent loss, they shared our grief and were very supportive, so I wanted to do something to thank them and let them know how much we appreciate them.
So, last week, I went through an entire stack of CDs, containing thousands of photos that we’ve taken over the past several years, chose about 200 of the best photos of our pets, and had them printed at our local Sam’s Club.
Then, this past weekend, my wife and I worked together to create a very special “thank-you.” I found some really nice paper and formatted and printed my piece, The Dream with a thank-you note, while my wife spent hours and hours choosing a handful of photos that would look nice when placed around the edges of the words.
On my Kindergarten report card, I got a gold star for everything except cutting and pasting — whether that was a spot-on assessment of my skills or a self-fulfilling prophecy is arguable — but the fact is that I’m still not very good at cutting and pasting. So my wife carefully cut the photos in a way that makes our pets look three-dimensional on the page.
I mounted the finished product in a large, matted, cherry-and-ebony wooden frame.
This past Monday morning, I delivered it to our vet’s office. I also brought a smaller framed copy of The Dream with a thank-you note and an envelope of photos for each of the vet technicians.
There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

A Great post on Pets here dude, I own a cute little puppy and she is the best of all.. Takes me to the olden times when she used to be so small she used to fit in my palm.

Thanks, Susan. I was happy to approve your comment (along with its link to your useful-looking dog-training web site).
But a few minutes later, you posted the exact same comment and link to your web site in another one of my Journal entries (but you identified yourself with a different email address). That leads me to suspect that you may be one of those annoying people who use other people’s blogs to promote your web site.
