Break It To Me Gently, But Not Slowly

Saturday, February 4th, 2012

Have you ever had to be the bearer of bad news?

I have had to perform that unenviable task several different times.

Like when my younger brother committed suicide, neither of my parents could bear to do it, so I had to go through their personal phone book and break the news to all of of their friends and relatives.

After the first few phone calls, I developed a delivery style that [more...]

Bud Finds His Forever Home

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

Tonight, as I type this, it has been exactly five months since I rescued Bud.

He happily lived in our garage for more than two months, sleeping in a large greyhound-sized dog crate that we borrowed from our next-door neighbors — along with their window air-conditioner, which kept him comfortable during the hot, humid Sunshine State summer.

But, on this past Labor Day weekend, we gave the crate back. [more...]

It Wasn’t Me

Friday, November 25th, 2011

I know that you think you remember something about me.

But it wasn’t me.

It might have looked like me.

It might have sounded like me.

But it wasn’t me. [more...]

Looking The Other Way

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

So, on the day that I found out, I wrote this Journal post and tucked it back onto this date.

As a reminder. [more...]

As of this writing, it’s been two weeks since I rescued Bud.

He’s doing great — you can read all the latest news about him in my Bud update.

But it has come to my attention that, apparently, other people rescue dogs, too.

For example, Finn was rescued from a life of living on the street.

He was [more...]

Bud Updates

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

Here’s the update that everyone’s been waiting for!

Bud, the abandoned one-year-old dog that I rescued this past Thursday night, is doing great!

Durng the past five days, he has become even more loving and sweet.

And he has proven that he is completely housebroken — no accidents at all.

And, thanks to fresh eggs, fish oil capsules, really good dog food, cheese, three [more...]

Bud

Friday, July 1st, 2011

Last night, Max and I went to the nearby county park for our daily walk.

At the end of our walk, as we approached the exit, a medium-sized, black dog came walking in.

All by himself.

He was wearing a ratty old blue collar, but he didn’t have any tags.

He appeared to be [more...]
