Mythbusters Have A Ball

Tuesday, December 6th, 2011

I don’t get that cable channel, so I’ve never seen the TV show, Mythbusters.

But I occasionally read stories about it, describing how the show’s hosts do tests to either confirm or disprove popular myths and old-wives’ tales.

From what I’ve seen, I think it would be really fun to work on that type of show; getting paid to entertain and educate people by making messes and having fun. [more...]

Regular readers of this Journal — and those who follow technology news — know that personal privacy is becoming a very rare commodity on the Internet.

And firing a [more...]

My wife and her brothers preferred Risk but that game was too cut-throat for my tastes, and I nearly always lost at it, so, when I finally won, I declared that my Risk days were over, and I never played it again.

Instead, I started a new tradition — [more...]

Lions and Tigers and Bears! Oh, My!

Wednesday, October 19th, 2011

A few decades ago, my wife and I lived in northwest Ohio, out in the country, south of Toledo.

I understand that the area has since become pretty suburbanized, but, back then, it was mostly miles of flat farmland, occassionally punctuated by old, wood-frame farmhouses.

One day, while driving past one of those farmhouses, about a [more...]

But They Let Batman Do It

Wednesday, October 12th, 2011

If you’re a Seattle supercriminal, bent on taking over the world, I don’t think you have to worry about him.

But if you’re a normal citizen, and your friends and you like to make noise and act rowdy in public, then you’d better beware.

Because self-professed superhero, Phoenix Jones — in a fully-padded superhero costume — patrols the streets of [more...]
