Regular visitors to this Web site know that I’ve survived several bad things in my life, including domestic violence. That’s why I considered it an honor to be able to help victims become survivors, by working more than full-time as a volunteer at a domestic violence center and shelter for an entire year.

One of my cousins left a short message on my cell phone a little while ago, notifying me that my biological father passed away early this morning.
Anyone who has read some of my articles in this site’s Domestic Violence Information section can probably understand why I’m left with very mixed feelings.

Regular visitors to this site know that I work as a full-time volunteer for a local domestic violence center and shelter. I serve as a legal advocate, care for groups of preschool to teenage children during their mothers’ DV support groups, configure donated PCs to make them safe and secure for survivors to use in their homes, scan and burn CDs of survivors’ Safety Plan documents, pick up and deliver donated food from a local restaurant to the DV center and shelter, and [more...]
