Sting Wars

Back in the Reagan era, the U.S. Strategic Defense Initiative (AKA “Star Wars”) planned to use laser beams to defend the country against incoming Soviet missiles.
Now, some of the same scientists are researching the idea of using lasers to kill mosquitoes.
They’ve already developed a laser device that can zap individual mosquitoes from 100 feet away.
That’s right — it kills them one-at-a-time.
As long as the mosquitoes are in a specially constructed glass box that has a reflective back wall.
Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction, isn’t it?
