Still Working On This Site - Behind The Scenes
July 1st, 2008 by ComputerBob
I’ve been pretty busy for the past several days, continuing to research and test possible technologies to use on a potential new client’s web site. I finished that task last night. Then this morning, I mailed my proposal to the client.
But, just as I had hoped, I also found time to change all of this site’s CSS layout DIV definitions from their previous generic names (i.e. “header”) to new unique names (i.e. “cb_header”) — on every one of this site’s thousands of web pages — without breaking anything.
Since I did it carefully and correctly, my changes didn’t affect how this site looks or works. The only difference is behind the scenes: From now on, I’ll be able to use third-party scripts (like WordPress) without having to worry about the many problems that would have occurred if their DIVs had used the same generic names as this site’s DIVs (like WordPress had done).
As always, the fun never ends.
