Smile, Smile, Smile

In the mid-1950’s, Nat King Cole popularized a song called “Smile,” that said the following:
Smile, though your heart is aching.
Smile, even though its breaking.
When there are clouds in the sky, you’ll get by
if you smile through your fear and sorrow.
Smile, and maybe tomorrow,
you’ll see the sun come shining through for you.
Light up your face with gladness.
Hide every trace of sadness.
Although a tear may be ever so near.
That’s the time you must keep on trying.
Smile, what’s the use of crying?
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
if you just smile.
Do you think that’s good advice?
Apparently, the administrators of a Japanese railway company think it is.
UPDATE: When I wrote this Journal entry, I had no idea that Jermaine Jackson was going to sing “Smile” at his brother Michael Jackson’s memorial service later that same day.
