Seeing Numbers As Colors

This is a weird one: “Psychologists have used hypnosis to give people the ability to see numbers as colors“ — a skill that only one in 1,000 people have without being hypnotized.
That’s interesting, but to me, it begs the question, “Why would anyone want to be able to see numbers as colors?”

I have always seen words and numbers as colours and never really mentioned it to anyone until very late in life when it incidentally came up. I was really surprised that not one else around me did the same and looked at me as if I had two heads.
I am a teacher and I would like to know what it actually means as well as I am completely normal .
