One Small Step For Man…
July 24th, 2010 by ComputerBob
Yes, I remember the first manned moon landing — like it happened 41 years ago this past week.
Friends of my parents, George and Marge Samels (what ever happened to them?), had recently moved to Kentucky, so my family had made the trip down to see them.
I sat on their living room floor, watching the live, grainy, black and white coverage of the moon landing on their TV.
I heard Neil Armstrong blow the now-famous line that they had written for him to say when he became the first human being to ever set foot on the moon.
He was supposed to say, “That’s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.”
But instead, he did what would later become known as a “Bushism” — named after the notorious misspeaker, President George W. Bush — he instead said, “That’s one small step for man (pause, as though he was trying to think of a way to fix his mistake), one giant leap for mankind.”
Nobody’s perfect — least of all, any member of mankind.
Whether or not you already knew all of that, you probably don’t already know these Secrets of the First Moon Landing.
