No Magic Pill Or Silver Bullet

December 30th, 2009 by ComputerBob

For the past few years, I’ve taken several dietary supplements every day, after researching each and every one of them, as well as my need for them.

My doctor has long been aware in agreement with everything that I take, and has repeatedly urged me to write a book about how I successfully made dramatic improvements to my health.

Omega 3 fish oil helps protect my heart and may also contribute to keeping my brain healthy.

One aspirin each day helps keep my blood thinner than normal, which helps to reduce my blood pressure as well as to reduce the chance of a stroke.

Vitamin B complex helps my body get energy from the foods that I eat.

“Flush free” Niacin completely replaced a prescription cholesterol drug to help me reduce my cholesterol down from dangerously high levels to extremely low and healthy levels.

And cinnamon with chromium helped do the same thing for my blood glucose levels.

But even though my biological family has a history of Alzheimer’s disease, I’ve never been tempted to take Ginkgo biloba, which has been widely touted for improving memory and other brain functions in older adults.

That’s because, unlike the supplements that I take, I never saw any convincing proof that Ginkgo biloba actually worked.

And, unfortunately for all those people who put their hope in it, a new research study has reached that same conclusion.
