Murder By Windows Malware
August 24th, 2010 by ComputerBob
Regular readers of this Journal have seen me rant about it many times: The fact that nearly all of the viruses and other malware that you ever read or hear about affects only Windows users; yet the news coverage of all of those types of malware rarely mentions that fact.
They may call it “PC viruses and malware” — but really, it’s Windows viruses and malware.
All of that junk doesn’t affect Linux users.
In fact, I’ve been running Linux since July of 2006, without any antivirus software; without any Linux firewall; without any anti-malware software; and without any security problems.
And unfortunately, as more and more non-PC hardware like cars and medical devices run Windows to do more and more non-PC tasks, all of those Windows viruses and all of that Windows malware will have the potential to do a lot more harm than simply infecting some PCs.
In fact, it could actually kill people.
