More Than Power In Those Lines

It’s an old idea that never really caught on. Maybe because it would be much slower than the Internet speeds that most of us are used to using. In fact, it would only be a few times faster than a dial-up connection. And it would cost significantly more than dial-up. Plus it has more technical problems to overcome than other Internet connection methods.
Still, it might turn out to be the best solution for people who live in remote areas that aren’t serviced by any of the normal high-speed Internet services.
Especially now that IBM is planning to help build networks that will provide broadband Internet over normal power lines.
