Microsoft Offers Free Software To Startups

I’ve long thought that the most successful, long-term politicians are the ones who are the most skillful at giving the impression that they’re serving the public — while they’re actually serving themselves.
That’s just another way of saying what comedian George Burns said a few decades ago: (paraphrased) “The secret to success is sincerity. Once you’ve learned to fake that, you’ve got it made.”
I think of both of those examples whenever I read stories about companies that claim to be “giving away” the products that they normally sell. To me, what many of those companies are doing is the equivalent of a drug dealer telling you that “the first one is free,” knowing that once you’re hooked, he’s going to make a ton of money from you.
And that leads me to today’s story: Microsoft’s new BizSpark program.
