Linux For Sale At Best Buy
July 9th, 2008 by ComputerBob
In November of 2002, I was still on a slow dial-up Internet connection, so downloading Linux distros and burning them to CDs was not an option.
So, after reading several review that said that it was wonderful, I bought a copy of Mandrake Linux 9.0 at a Best Buy in the Frostbite State. It cost me $70 and I hated it.
Of course, back then, I was a Linux newbie, so I needed a lot of help and hand-holding. I didn’t find either one at the time, so I gave up on Mandrake Linux, but continued to try several other Linux distros, trying to find one that could replace Windows 98 for my full-time usage.
Now Best Buy has begun selling boxed copies of Ubuntu Linux for $20, including help and hand-holding.
I hope it is popular and successful.
