Like A Bad Dream

Have you ever sent an email message and then wished that you hadn’t?
Years ago, I worked as a computer consultant at a huge, multinational corporation.
While it seemed that everyone who worked there was on their best behavior at all times, every once in awhile, I’d be in a group of recipients who received an email message whose tone “wasn’t quite right.” Invariably, a few minutes later, I’d receive another email message from the same sender, with the same subject line except for the addition of the word “recalling” in front of it; for example, “RECALLING You Stupid Idiots.”
Apparently, the sender thought that the email system would somehow delete their inappropriate email message and give them an electronic “do-over.”
I doubt that it will be any more successful, but here’s a new excuse that penitent emailers can try — as long as their companies don’t mind them sleeping on the job.
