I Could Help Her, But I Won’t
July 24th, 2008 by ComputerBob
This morning, I received an email message from a woman who’s in the “direct mail” business. To me, “direct mail” is “junk mail” — snail-mail spam. For the past few years, I’ve registered on direct marketing web sites and written every letter to direct marketing associations that was supposed to remove my name from all direct marketing databases, but I still receive way too much of that landfill in the mail.
Anyway, the woman who wrote to me wanted me to help her fool people into opening and reading the “direct mail” items that she mails out to them.
It was a simple request. In fact, I was shocked that someone who’s in that business doesn’t already know the answer to the question that she asked me.
I was torn between my desire to help people who ask me for my help and my disdain for the business that she wanted me to help her with.
After thinking about it a few minutes, I decided to not write back to her.
You’re welcome.
