Have We Lost The Privacy War? 6
May 9th, 2010 by ComputerBob
I’ve said it many times before, but it’s so important that I think it’s worth saying again:
I don’t trust any of my private, personal, confidential data to any online services that make billions of dollars by exploiting their users’ data.
Here’s another example of what I’m talking about:
“Facebook claims that it has 400 million users. But are they well-protected from prying eyes, scammers, and unwanted marketers?
Not according to Joan Goodchild, senior editor of CSO (Chief Security Officer) Online.”
And she’s not alone.
If you are a Facebook user, I strongly urge you to quickly become a former Facebook user.

For folks who want to become “former Facebook users,” please be advised that Facebook allows you to “deactivate” your account, but that is not the same as permanently deleting your account. It’s preferable to completely delete it, but you may have to dig a little bit to find out how to do it. Do a web search with the words “how to delete facebook account” for more info. [I don't know if this is allowed here, but to permanently delete your Facebook account, first log into your account, then go to http://www.facebook.com/help/contact.php?show_form=delete_account.]
