If nothing else good comes out of all of the recent controversial privacy breeches and vulnerabilities on social networking sites, I’m glad to see that they have at least spurred increased discussion of the related issues.
I think that’s a very good thing, because it seems to me that much of the “discussion” up until now has been mostly a one-sided, self-serving soliloquy from the social networking sites — sites that make billions of dollars each year from exploiting their users’ private data — trying to convince everyone that “privacy is dead” and that “no one cares about privacy.”
Well, I’m not convinced.
