Have PCs Become Appliances?

When I think of the word, “appliance,” I imagine refrigerators and washing machines and toasters.
Not computers.
But some people argue that computers have become so simplified that they’re practically appliances.
Veteran PC journalist, John C. Dvorak, seems willing to concede that some simple, handheld computing devices may be close to being appliances, but he insists that desktop PCs will never be appliances.
