Gorilla Glass

Corning first developed it way back in 1962.
But no one knew what to do with it, so it’s been sitting around for nearly a half-century, waiting.
When I look back at the past few decades of tumultuous events around the world — including both natural and man-made disasters — I’m astounded that it took until now for someone to think of some good uses for ultra-strong glass — and that even now, they’re only thinking of using it in portable electronic devices and high-end TV screens.
