Good Enough Beats Perfect
August 29th, 2009 by ComputerBob
As we worked together on a project a decade ago, one of my coworkers introduced me to the expression, “Perfect is the enemy of good enough.”
In other words, after you’ve spent considerable time, effort and resources to make your project “good enough,” it often takes a whole lot more time, effort and resources to try to make it perfect.
That’s a very hard lesson to learn, especially for someone like me, who considers “good enough” to be another way of saying “not very good.”
But a lot of companies are getting rich by cashing in on the fact that more and more of us are willing to settle for “good enough” — and some of us actually prefer it.
