Several years ago, email chain letters were all the rage with email newbies. And unfortunately, they appear to be making a comeback.

You remember them; they’re the bipolar messages that start out by blessing you or wishing you well, but then threaten that you will be cursed if you didn’t forward them onto X other people within X minutes.

Raise your hand if you’ve ever received one of those email chain letters. Okay, you can put your hand down — almost all of us have received them.

Now raise your hand if you still forward them to your friends.

If your hand is up, shame on you.

Here’s a comic that illustrates the decision-making process that people should use when they’re deciding whether or not to forward interesting stuff to their personal email accounts.

But with just a few minor modifications, it will work perfectly to help you decide whether to forward email chain letters to your friends.
