Geeks, Dorks, Dweebs And Nerds

A decade ago, one of my college students once told me, “You’re the coolest geek I know.”
Seeing my pretend-horrified reaction, she immediately explained that she had meant it as a compliment.
A few months later, at a faculty Christmas party, one of my colleagues said, You should have some sort of slogan for your web site.” I replied, “Yeah, that would be cool. Maybe something like… ‘Making Geek-Speak Chic’?”
We were both shocked at how it just popped out of my brain instantaneously, without any conscious effort on my part. We laughed, and that night, “Making Geek-Speak Chic” became this web site’s official slogan.
If you’re reading this, there’s at least a pretty good chance that you’re either a geek, a dweeb, a dork or a nerd.
