Full-Body Scanners
September 1st, 2010 by ComputerBob
They started talking about using full-body security scanners in airports a few years ago.
Even though they told us that the security personnel who would be viewing the completely nude images of airline passengers would be highly trained, and the imaging machines would not be capable of storing or transmitting those images, many of us were outraged at the idea.
But most people were willing to allow themselves be viewed completely nude by minimum-wage airport and courthouse security workers because it gave them the perception of greater security.
So several months ago, they started using full-body scanners at airports and courthouses.
And guess what?
Very shortly after that, it was revealed that several airline security employees had stored and transmitted their favorite nude images of airline passengers to others.
And now, “American Science & Engineering, a company based in Billerica, Massachusetts, has sold U.S. and foreign government agencies more than 500 backscatter x-ray scanners mounted in vans that can be driven past neighboring vehicles to see their contents…”
Did anyone not see that coming?
Does anyone not see what’s coming next?
