Fake Photos - Automagically
October 6th, 2009 by ComputerBob
We all know that software like Adobe’s Photoshop allows skilled technicians to manipulate photographs in many different ways, including adding, removing and changing elements, as well as creating new, realistic-looking montages by combining elements from two or more existing photos.
The danger in that is that consumers can no longer tell the difference between real photos and fake photos that were created by Photoshop experts. And we’ve already seen plenty of examples where even highly trusted news publications have secretly Photoshopped photographs in order to redifine reality and manipulate their audiences.
But it gets even worse. From now on, you won’t even have to be a Photoshop expert in order to create realistic-looking photo montages — thanks to PhotoSketch.
Although it’s incredible technology, I have serious misgivings about its overall value to society.
