Easter Eggs 2

April 11th, 2009 by ComputerBob

Today is the day before Easter. The day when many families around the world traditionally decorate hard-boiled eggs and hide them, so that children can find them, learn all abouit how the symbolism of an egg relates to the holy Easter holiday, and be happy.

Because everyone knows that children just love to eat hard-boiled eggs.

I think it’s sad that, nowadays, most parents don’t understand or explain the religious symbolism any more.

Their children don’t hunt for Easter eggs.

They don’t even decorate eggs any more.

Parents hand out brightly colored basketfuls of chocolate eggs. And marshmallow eggs. And brightly colored plastic eggs filled with jelly beans and Reese’s pieces. And candy bars. And all kinds of other sugary junk that contains as little religious symbolism as nutrition.

For many children, Easter has become Halloween II — The Sugar Rush Returns.

A feast that, ironically, malnourishes both their bodies and their souls.

But there are Easter eggs that don’t contain any sugar.

And you have to hunt for them.

Plus, if you try, you can even figure out some symbolism for them that relates to the holy Easter holiday.

And be happy.
