Drawings Come Alive

Most of this Journal’s readers know me as a left-brain, technical kind of guy.
But I’m no stranger to the creative process.
I’ve played the guitar ever since I was 12 years old. During about a 5-year period a few decades ago, I wrote about 50 songs, and my wife and I eked out a living performing some them in a total of 427 concerts in 27 states, for audiences as small as 9 people and as large as 3,000 people.
I’ve also had other creative careers as a photographer, a television director. a college instructor and a computer consultant.
And I’ve written thousands of articles, reviews, how-tos, and Journal entries.
I think I’m a pretty creative guy. But I’m also a pretty analytical, logical guy.
I enjoy working with machines, but I also enjoy working with people.
I’m at my best when I’m doing something that lets me use both sides of my brain.
However, when it comes to drawing, I just don’t have the eye for it. I can barely draw a straight line.
So I’m really impressed when other people can draw things with photographic detail and realism.
M.C. Escher had that ability. If you browse through his web site, I’m sure you’ll recognize his style as well as many of his famous drawings.
And if you like Escher’s work, you’ll immediately recognize his style in Drawings Come Alive.
