Don’t Press The F1 Key In Windows XP
March 3rd, 2010 by ComputerBob
In its latest public admission that its operating systems are woefully insecure against malicious attacks, Microsoft has issued a new security advisory with a special instruction:
“Microsoft told Windows XP users (yesterday) not to press the F1 key when prompted by a Web site, as part of its reaction to an unpatched vulnerability that hackers could exploit to hijack PCs running Internet Explorer (IE).”
It seems to me that if you’re still using Windows — despite years and years of serious security vulnerabilities, viruses, spyware, botnets and myriad other forms of malware — then, just to be on the safe side, you should probably avoid pressing any keys at all when you’re on the Internet.
And don’t click on anything either.
