Does Linux Need To Be Sexy?
April 13th, 2010 by ComputerBob
For years, pundits and would-be pundits have taken turns proclaiming various reasons why desktop Linux isn’t as popular as they think that it could or should be.
Here’s the opening statement from one of the latest: “There are three reasons why Linux isn’t succeeding on the desktop, and none of them are to do with missing functionality, using the command line or the politics of free software.”
As a full-time Linux user for almost 4 years now, I would diplomatically classify that statement as “controversial,” mainly because it starts with the dubious and arguable presumption that Linux “isn’t succeeding on the desktop.”
Here’s the whole article.
Judge for yourself.
