Craigslist Deals 4
September 30th, 2009 by ComputerBob
Craigslist is a virtual magnet (pun intended) for spammers and scammers, but if you’re smart and careful, you can find some great deals.
I made my latest Craigslist deal yesterday evening, when I bought a cordless drill/driver kit from a guy who lives about a mile away from me. It includes a DeWalt 14.4-volt drill/driver with the following specs:
- 1/2-inch keyless, ratcheting chuck with one-hand operation
- Heavy duty motor
- Variable-speed
- Reversible
- 22 torque settings
- 3-speed gearbox
- Maximum torque: 400 in./lbs.
- Two extended run-time batteries
- One 45-minute battery charger/conditioner
- Heavy duty hard-shell case

It originally retailed for $370, but it was recently available online for $200 (plus tax and shipping), or refurbished for $165 (plus tax and shipping).
I bought mine used for $50. Its chuck is pretty scuffed, and its rubber handle shows some wear, but it runs very strong.
I wouldn’t have wanted it if it had seen heavy daily use on construction sites, but this one had been used by a Verizon sub-contractor who installed new wiring in people’s homes. He was recently laid off, so he’s selling his tools and moving back up north.

Hey,
Great find! I have a whole website dedicated to the type of deals (just like this one) you can find on craigslist.
