Cool Pumpkin Carvings
October 9th, 2009 by ComputerBob
This coming Christmas day will be the 6th anniversary of my wife and me arriving in the Sunshine State from the Frostbite State. One year in the Frostbite State, we got 27 1/2 inches of snow on Halloween, and it stayed piled up in the corners of the shopping centers’ parking lots until the following April or May.
With past experiences like that, it still looks odd to us to see houses decorated for Halloween and Christmas without any snow, and with the daily high temperatures still in the 70s and 80s (21-29 degrees C).
It’s been many years since I carved a Halloween pumpkin with my two (now adult) goddaughters, and that was just a simple, traditional pumpkin head with triangular eyes and nose, and a jagged-toothed mouth opening.
Since then, Halloween pumpkins have evolved to the point where many of them are extremely artistic, but don’t really seem to have much to do with Halloween any more.
Depending on your sensibilities, that may or may not be a good thing.
