Carbon Pawprints

Whether or not you buy the global-warming salepeople’s spiel, it makes good economic sense to try to live as simply as possible and reduce your amounts of consumption and waste.
My wife and I began doing both of those things as an expression of our faith, decades before Chicken Little began making hundreds of millions of dollars and winning awards as a result of repeatedly criss-crossing the globe in pollution-spewing private jets, to sound the alarm that everyone else has to drastically reduce their “carbon footprints” in order to save the planet.
You know who I’m talking about.
But he’s far from alone. Show me a typical politician and I’ll show you someone whose noble ecological sermons belie their own extravagant lifestyle.
Even the U.S. president has repeatedly told us that we need to cut back on our vehicle emissions, while he flies all over to have “date nights” with his wife.
Still, as profoundly hypocritical as our leaders are, my pets and I hope that none of them are going to be foolish enough to embrace this idea.
But you know, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if they did.
